The RoboBee project aims to create an autonomous flying robot that is the size of an insect. RoboBees are designed to fly under their own power, navigate towards an objective, adapt to changing circumstances and work together as a group.
Engineers who invented the RoboBees were inspired by pop-up books. The flat sheet is made of carbon fibre, plastic film, titanium, copper and ceramic. The sheets are cut using laser and the bees are folded into the shape of a robot.
